When dieting, the diet foods you choose play a huge role in your overall weight loss. Since these bars were invented, many companies have replicated the idea, and there are literally dozens of companies out there selling these bars on the market. Some are available for purchase only online, while some are available strictly in health food stores. There are many though, that are out on the general market and are available in your local grocery store, convenience store, or gas station. This makes it easy to grab one while on the run to keep your energy up.
These bars can prove to be quite expensive, but the good thing is, once you’ve found a brand you are fond of, you can purchase them in bulk at grocery stores, online, or in bulk food stores like Costco or Sam’s Club.

To determine which bar is best for you, unfortunately your best route is to try them all. Taste can be lacking in many of them, some have less protein, some more sugar. You MUST read the label and also think about what is most important to you. While one bar may be high in fiber and low in carbs, these same bars are typically higher in calories and saturated fats. If it tastes TOO good, you are probably digesting too much sugar without knowing it, and it actually isn’t a diet food at all.
If you are eating these bars for the right reason, you want to make sure of several things. First, it needs to have an adequate amount of protein, preferably 5-6 grams per serving. It should also have 3-4 grams of fiber, and try to find a bar with less than 30% calories from sugar. You’ll be shocked at how difficult this is to find in “healthy” bars.If you know what to look for, these bars can absolutely be healthy, but don’t be tricked because they are in the health food isle or being sold at a fitness store- they are often not the best diet food.

When you know what you want to accomplish for your health, finding the right diet food plan becomes so much easier. The key is not to aim for everything at once, but to steadily improve your health over time.
