Our body has to maintain a certain pH level, when we consume too much salt and not drinking enough water, the ph level is disturbed. The body will then automatically retain water to balance out the pH level. So drink at least 8 glasses of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine drinks like coffee, tea and sodas that cause dehydration and further aggravate the water retention situation.
